Do you like cats? I love them, even though my two lead me a right dance. They’re very naughty, but always end up giving me a good laugh.
Well today, Septimus, my little black and white cat, decided that catfood wasn’t what he needed this morning and for reasons best known to himself decided to explore the kitchen table to find something tastier.
And of course he did this just at the time when my back was turned after I’d put my starflower oil and codliver oil capsules out and gone for a glass of water to wash them down.
I’d never realised he could move that fast, but before I could turn the tap off, the little monkey was on the table exploring the delights of my daily supplements. He’d walloped the cod liver oil down and – I suppose cos it’s fishy – he seemed to like it, and grabbed up the starflower oil capsules thinking they’d be more of the same. But was he in for a shock!
He chewed my starflower oil capsules as fast as he could, then leapt up in shock and squealed, wrinkling his nose and rubbing his mouth violently with his paw. I’ve seen him do that once before when he ate a beetle that disagreed with him, and he’s been wary of beetles ever since, but the starflower oil clearly tasted much, much worse than that beetle.
Five minutes later, he was still at it, and of course when I’d done telling him it served him right I started to feel sorry for him. So it was out with the double cream and I poured him a big dollop of cream to take the taste away. Thankfully that had him right as rain and purring contentedly well before I left for the office. Of course, I was so busy with little Septimus and his vitamins (!) that I forgot to take my own supplements, so I’ve made a note on my iPhone to remind me to take them this evening.
Who’d have a cat!!
